Foundations For Health Golf Tournament

The Foundations for Health Golf Tournament is so much more than just a great day spent in the sunshine with friends. It is about making a critical impact on our community by supporting two of its most important charity organizations – The Sturgeon Community Hospital Foundation and the St. Albert Community Foundation.

This tournament raises over $50,000 annually to support life-changing and life-saving programs, equipment and services in our community.

Our 21st Annual Golf Tournament is no exception.

The Sturgeon Community Hospital Foundation is committed to supporting the creation of a state-of-the-art Simulation Lab at the Sturgeon Hospital.

The SIMs Lab is designed to provide an immersive learning experience for healthcare practitioners. It will consist of realistic looking clinical sim lab rooms, manikins and equipment, and will allow learners to practice and further develop clinical expertise.

A full simulation lab offers learners the closest experience to actual patient care and will provide the best opportunity for learners to practice their critical thinking and patient care.

Simulation Labs have been credited with facilitating a multidisciplinary approach to teamwork in patient care. It allows for the practice of technical skills – but it also allows for the practice of non-technical skills such as interpersonal com, judgement, leadership and teamwork. Allows surgical teams to function more safely and more efficiently especially when a crisis arises.

The benefits to your Hospital; and therefore your health, will be immeasurable. Simulation based training is proven to reduce the occurrence of adverse events because it provides the opportunity to practice high-risk, low-frequency skill sets such as cardiac arrest in the OR and difficult airway.

There is not a professional nor unit in the hospital that would not benefit from simulation-based training because it sets up realistic scenarios in real time. It will be used to help new nurses and physicians practice and develop their skill sets in a safe and controlled environment, as well as allow seasoned practitioners to continue to train and learn new skills and techniques.

For over two years our community has faced the threat of pandemic. This has taken a grave toll on the mental health and wellness of our community. Among the many charities the St. Albert Community Foundation supports – those focusing on mental health and wellness are paramount.

The 2022 Foundations for Health Golf Tournament will raise money to support mental health and wellness in your community through the great work of the St. Albert Community Foundation.

The St. Albert Community Foundation continues to focus on building equity endowments to support quality programs and services for generations to come. The Foundation supports charitable groups who enhance the overall well-being and general health of our community. In the past the Foundation has supported groups such as: KidSport St. Albert, St. Albert Housing Society, STAR Literacy, Jessica Martel Memorial Foundation, St. Albert Stop Abuse in Families, and the Sturgeon Community Hospital Foundation.
